For therapists, counsellors and coaches in the UK
Your first 20 session notes are free
No credit card needed. Finish a session, talk for a minute, and your note is done before your next client arrives.
Takes 30 seconds to sign up. Nothing to cancel.
How it works
Talk it out
After a session, say what happened in your own words. Or let Joy listen to your video session.
Your note appears
Joy turns your words into a structured note, in your template if you have one.
You approve it
Read it, tweak it, save it. Nothing enters a client record without your eyes on it first.
What "free" means here
Your first 20 sessions get the full product: AI notes from your voice, your templates, your calendar, reminders and to-dos. Not a cut-down version where the useful part sits behind a paywall. When your 20 sessions are used up, Joy is £25 a month + VAT, flat, however busy you are. No card until you decide, so there is nothing to remember to cancel.
Built in Sweden, careful by default
45,000+ consultations and counting
Joy is used by therapists, counsellors and coaches across the UK and Europe. Your records sit under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, hosted in the EU, with a data processing agreement you can keep on file. When a client asks where their words go, you have a clear answer.
"This fabulous program has changed my note-taking life! I never believed that my own thoughts and ramblings could be translated into just the right tone and meaning."

A note from Charlotta
Hi, I'm Charlotta, one of Joy's co-founders. I have built healthcare technology for over a decade, and Joy is the tool I kept wishing existed: notes done before you leave the office, evenings back, and your clients' trust never traded for any of it.
Your first 20 notes are free because trying Joy on real sessions is the only way to know if it fits your practice. If anything feels off, or brilliant, tell me at hello@joy.day. I read every message.

Questions therapists ask us
Is it really free?
Yes. Your first 20 sessions are free with full AI notes, and we do not ask for a card. There is no clock on them either: your free sessions never expire. After that, Joy is £25/month + VAT. That is the whole model, no tiers to decode.
What happens after my 20 free notes?
Joy asks if you want to subscribe. If you do not, your notes stay yours and you can export them. Nothing is charged, because we never had your card.
Do you train AI on my notes or my clients' data?
No. Never, on any plan. There is no data-sharing setting to find in Joy, because there is nothing to switch off.
Can I use Joy without recording sessions?
Yes. Joy is dictation-first: most notes start with you talking for a minute or two after the session, in your own words, or typing a few lines. No client audio is needed for that. Joy only records if you choose to hold a video session in it and let it draft the note from the call.
Do I need my clients' consent to use Joy?
It depends on how you use it. If you dictate or type your own summary after a session, you are keeping notes the way you always have, with Joy acting as your processor under UK GDPR. You would normally cover this by naming a secure third-party note-taking provider in your privacy notice. If you record a session, such as a video call in Joy, you need your client's explicit consent first. Either way, being open with clients about how you keep notes is good practice. This is general guidance, not legal advice for your practice.
Where is my data stored?
Session data is hosted in the EU. Joy is built by Joy Solutions AB, a Swedish company, and complies with GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018.
How is this different from other free AI note tools?
Some tools offer ongoing free plans where you type or dictate a summary yourself and the AI formats it. Joy's free 20 sessions are the full experience instead: speak naturally and the note writes itself. If you are weighing options, we keep an honest comparison with Upheal including where they win.
