What this page covers
This page explains what cookies and similar storage technologies Joy solutions AB, company number 559435-7971, Skoghemsvägen 7, 217 74 Malmö, Sweden ("Joy", "we" or "us") sets on joy.day and its subdomains. It lists every cookie by name, purpose, duration and who sets it, and tells you how to change or withdraw your consent at any time.

What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise your browser on a future visit. Similar technologies include local storage and pixel tags. In this policy, "cookie" covers all of them.
Cookies can be first-party (set by joy.day) or third-party (set by another service we embed, like Google Analytics). They can be session cookies (cleared when you close the browser) or persistent cookies (kept for a defined period).
How we ask for your consent
When you first visit joy.day, we show a banner where you can accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or open "Preferences" to choose per category. Nothing beyond strictly necessary cookies should be set until you actively consent. Right now there are exceptions, which we are fixing. They are listed under "Known exceptions" below.
We use Google Consent Mode v2, which means that when you reject analytics or marketing cookies, Google's tags are informed of your choice and do not store cookies or send identifiers. The Meta Pixel is not controlled by Consent Mode today and sets _fbp whatever you choose, until our fix is live: see "Known exceptions" below. Google may still receive anonymised, cookieless signals for measurement purposes, as required to operate Google Analytics.
Your consent choice is stored in a first-party cookie called joy_consent for up to 12 months. After that, we will ask again. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" in the footer of any page on joy.day.
Known exceptions, and how to protect yourself
The following does not match how this page says our cookies work. We found it on our own checks and we are correcting the site, not just this page. We will remove each item here when it is fixed.
Meta Pixel loads before your choice. On joy.day the Meta Pixel currently loads as soon as the page opens, before you have answered the banner, and it keeps loading if you choose "Reject all". When it loads it sets the cookie _fbp on joy.day for 3 months, and Meta Platforms receives your IP address, the address of the page and information about your browser. We are changing the pixel so that it loads only after you accept the "Marketing" category. Until then you can stop it yourself: delete the cookies for joy.day in your browser settings after your visit, or block the domain connect.facebook.net with a content blocker. You can also limit how Meta uses this data in the ad settings of your Facebook or Instagram account.
try.joy.day/easter has no banner. This page currently sets the Google Analytics cookies _ga and _ga_<container-id> and the Meta cookie _fbp when it opens, without asking. We are removing these from that page. Until then, the same browser settings as above stop them.
The video player loads before your choice. Our front page and the pages under try.joy.day embed a Vimeo video player that loads when the page opens. Vimeo and its hosting provider Cloudflare then set cookies on vimeo.com (such as __cf_bm and cf_clearance) and Vimeo receives your IP address and browser information. We are changing the player so that nothing loads from Vimeo until you press play.
The Joy app (notes.joy.day) measures before asking. In the Joy app, Google Analytics currently records a page view when a page opens, without a banner, which sets _ga and _ga_<container-id>. If you come to the app from one of our Instagram ads, directly or by way of joy.day, the Meta Pixel also loads and sets _fbp, and if you then create an account, Meta is told that a registration took place. We are removing both from the app. Until then, the browser settings above stop them.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the site to work or for basic security. They are always set, and do not require your consent under the ePrivacy Directive.
Analytics (optional)
These cookies help us understand how visitors use joy.day so we can improve it. Set only if you accept the "Analytics" category.
Marketing (optional)
These cookies help us measure whether our advertising is useful. They should be set only if you accept the "Marketing" category. We are currently running ads on Instagram, so the Meta Pixel is active, and until our fix is live it sets _fbp before your choice: see "Known exceptions" above.
Third parties who receive data
The cookies above may send data to the companies below. Entries marked strictly necessary apply without your consent; the others only once you accept the category named:
- Google LLC — Google Analytics 4 (analytics), Google Ads (marketing) and reCAPTCHA (strictly necessary). Data may be transferred to the US under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- Meta Platforms, Inc. — Meta Pixel (marketing, active; until our fix is live it loads before your choice, see "Known exceptions"). Data may be transferred to the US under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- Vimeo, Inc. — video player on our front page and try pages (loads before your choice until our fix is live, see "Known exceptions"). Data may be transferred to the US under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — site hosting and bot protection (strictly necessary). Data processed in the EU region where possible.
Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change your consent at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" in the footer of any page on joy.day. You can also delete all cookies set by joy.day through your browser settings; if you do, we will ask for your preferences again on your next visit.
Declining analytics or marketing cookies does not affect the functionality of joy.day.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when we add, remove, or change the cookies we use. When the change is material, we will re-prompt for your consent. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
